Another great post. You so capably put into words what I think but can't articulate. Our country is turning into a bizzaro version of itself, especially with all the outsourcing.I get so angry when I get a call from a collector who is obviously calling from another country. When they want to know why we can't pay our bills, I have to explain that a lot of jobs here have gone to their country, so if we cannot get work, we cannot pay bills. It is galling, to say the least. The ones who worked for the original creditors, Capital One, for example, were soft spoken and sympathetic. We haven't been able to pay our credit card bills for more than six monthd due to extended unemployment followed by underemployment, so now these foreign voices leaving messages on my machine work for collection agencies, and the voices are no longer soft or sympathetic. They are quite strident and demanding. P*ss on them...I no longer answer or return their calls.
We went one year without employment, and just when we were about to go under, we got a job, $50K less than we used to make, but enough to put food on the table. Then we got a slightly better one, but it's $35,000 less per year than before, but it's an 18-month contract, not permanent. Yes, we saved for a rainy day, had quite a nice little nest egg, but we went through several monsoons, typhoons and hurricanes, and now it's all gone. No one has enough money to cover that, unless you're Bill Gates who, btw, has sent several thousand jobs to India with more to follow. What a patriot!
: And what would happen if citibank visa couldn't cover their promissary notes with their bad investments? They would file for bankruptcy. Executives try to exempt million dollar homes while workers lose the pensions they are relying on to pay their bills when they retire. And bill collectors will work for free because of the pride they have in their work. "Don't piss down my back and say it's rainin' ".If they lost their jobs and pension, they'd be the first in line at the unemployment office and bankruptcy court. Their persistence will come in very handy when they try to fill the Grand Canyon with a snow shovel (for lack of a better word for "snow".
: : First off, this is a message board for people to seek advice, not
: : criticism.Obviously Jerome either works for a CA,or just doesn't have anything better to do with his time than to harass victims of the credit card industry.I must admit that with all of my problems, it is sometimes refreshing to read his posts, as I take them & him as a joke. So I thank him for that. He is way off base & very unknowledgable about how the whole banking & credit industry works however. I suppose he thinks it is just & alright that banks can charge 23% interest on debt, but only pay less than 1% on a saving account.I suppose also he believes that the good hearted credit card company actually loaned us any of their money..lol....credit card companies BY LAW can NOT loan anything, if they did they would be counterfiting. They loan money on paper"{ONLY)" with a promise to pay based on income....Well if things change and our income is less or we are in over our heads, and can not pay, then we can not pay ourselves back...the only thing the CC loses is their ridiculous interest..Again Credit card companies BY LAW can NOT loan money!!
: : THEY can not PRINT MONEY.....when we do not pay them back through
: : bankruptcy that proves it...Bankruptcy is federal law...why???
: : because the federal reserve is the only place you can actually get money..& they know it....SO I say if credit card companies want to continue ripping Americans off with ther outrageous interest rates, then they will have to circumt a few loses, like any business.......& they do NOT LOSE it is a tax deduction.....
: : & we the consumer still must pay, by having our dignity & respect shoved into court, and be labeled a deadbeat...NOT TRUE!
: : And we must pay by having a credit report showing this, and we are slapped on the hand, the next time we try to purchase a home...well so be it, BUT BK is not the end of the world IT IS A NEW BEGINNING...NO ONE listen to anyone's negativity about it...YOU will know if you have to file or not, and if you do, do it with a clear conscience...GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL> even you Jerome
