Our bankruptcy was discharged in oct. 2001. About 4 months ago we decided we wanted to buy a home and called our mortgage company to see why they hadnt posted our credit history over the past 1 1/2 years. They told us the bankruptcy had not been closed yet. After contacting our trustee we found out that indeed it wasnt. We had to pay 2500. at our discharge date due to equity in our home we were keeping. This money had never been disbursed which is why our bankruptcy has never closed. 4 months later although nothing in our proceedings has ever been protested by any creditors we are still waiting for this money to be disbursed. Is nearly 2 years a normal time line for a bankruptcy to take to close or has the trustee dropped the ball? Is there anything we can do?
