I Want Credit Card Today

Posted by: in-debt on 08/25/05:

Hello,

I am posting this because my husband has something on his credit report that is owned by Sherman.

Can someone help me out here? How do I get in touch with someone at this agency to see if it is in fact his debt and how to clear this up if it is.

Sherman Acquisition is;

Sherman Acquisition LL, Sherman Acquisition LP, Sherman Acquisition LLC and Sherman Acquisition TA LP are all part of the Sherman Financial Group. Sherman describes itself as the country's largest purchaser of distressed debt. The companies head offices are in Greenville, SC.

Sherman Acquisitions are debt collectors - a collection agency that buys bad debts (mostly credit card debt) from companies like Sears, and other retailers. Sherman also does 3rd party debt collection nationwide.

Listed below are some of the Sherman companies (subsidiaries).

Alegis Group LLC
Alegis Group Loan Servicing LLC
Alegis Group LP
Ascent Card Services LLC
Bailey Holdings LLC
Nassau Mortgage LLC
Resurgent Capital Services LLC
Sherman Acquisition LLC
Sherman Acquisition LP
Sherman Acquisition TA LP
Sherman Capital Markets LLC
Sherman Financial Group LLC
Sherman General Partner SPE LLC
Sherman Holdings LLC
Sherman Investments SPE LLC
Sherman Originator LLC

If any of these companies are contacting you its most likely because one or more of your creditors sold them your debt. Now Sherman wants to collect it.

Have you had contact by or experience with any of these credit collectors that you would like to share with others here?

Recently my clients who have filed bankruptcy have received dunning letters from this entity asserting that it is collecting for Sears, Roebuck and Co.

Sears, Roebuck and Co. entered into an agreement with the Federal Trade Commission a number of years ago (1998) where it agreed not to collect from people who had been discharged in bankruptcy.

If you've filed bankruptcy and are getting contacted by these people collecting for Sears, please send me an e-mail at johngibson@hotmail.com with the name of Sherman Acquisition in the subject line.

Hello all:
I apologize if this post is inappropriate to the forum.
I have no doubt that many of you have had issues with Sherman Acquisition LP / Alegis Group on your credit reports. A class action lawsuit has been filed against Sherman recently and the law firm who is representing the consumers against Sherman is in need of as many interested consumers to contact them as possible to provide them with information relevant to the case. I am not a lawyer, have no legal knowledge or training, nor am I an affiliate of this or any law firm. If Sherman Acquisitions appears on your credit reports, they would like to discuss this matter with you in order to further investigate the claims and to gather evidence which may be related to the case. For more information on the firm, the suit or Mr. Pietz, Esq., please use the contact information below. I can personally vouch for Mr. Pietz; he did not ask me to make this post on his behalf, I chose to for the good of the class action suit. Good luck and take care.

I do not post here regularly and will not be back to answer follow-up posts, but feel free to email me with questions.

Be careful when considering using companies offering credit counseling and debt consolidation services. Do a little reading to learn from other peoples experiences with debt consolidation and credit counseling. Then you can post questions here to get even more information about either credit counseling or debt consolidation.
